What can you really do for us?

We can do three things for families with student-athletes… teach you how to market your athlete to college coaches, help your student identify schools that are a good fit for them - academically and socially in addition to athletically, and significantly reduce your stress during the college finding and college funding process.

We already have several advisors… what makes you different?

As Certified College Planning Specialists, we are trained in the integration of the income tax system, the financial aid system, and the college admissions process. Importantly, we understand the “sequence of success” related to finding a school that fits the student’s interests, abilities, learning style and their college budget.

When should we start planning for college?

College “readiness” starts as early as sixth grade. Connect2CollegeCoaches is designed to work with high school freshman and older, utilizing age-appropriate tools to break the massive, multi-year project plan called COLLEGE into manageable, bite-sized chunks.  Importantly, marketing to college coaches should begin during their freshman year of high school.

Can a teenager really know what they want to do for a career?

Using time-tested, web-based tools to complete personality surveys, identify interests and abilities and explore literally thousands of potential career possibilities, today’s teenagers can be very well informed regarding their probable career path. Today’s technology has made it incredibly easy for student’s to have a well-formulated game plan developed before they set foot on campus.

Do standardized test scores really matter?

Like it or not, test scores do play a role in most (not all!) admissions decisions. We know the “in the money” numbers and can help you determine if more test prep is worth your time and money. GPA, class rank and test scores remain the prominent criteria for admissions so we will help you keep this element of the process in context.

How many schools should my student apply to?

Due to the competition and complexity associated with today’s college admission process, we recommend most students apply to 8 – 12 schools. Parents underestimate the challenges today’s high school students face in being accepted at a school that meets their “right fit” criteria so we find ourselves constantly reminding families to cast their nets far and wide.

Can’t we navigate this process on our own?

If you type COLLEGE in the search box of google.com, over 1 billion links will reveal themselves… most families find the sheer amount of information they are forced to process overwhelming and paralyzing. You absolutely can navigate this process on your own – it’s really a function of time, experience, competence, confidence, and money. If you’d prefer to be guided by a team of professionals that do this THOUSANDS of times each year, committed to saving you 25% - 50% of the overall cost of college in the process, we invite you to let us serve in that capacity.

Do you help my student-athlete find scholarships  for college?

Absolutely! We teach your student how to market their athletic skills to coaches and also navigate the financial aid process with you, and coach you through the appeal process if it applys to your circumstances.

Isn’t it cheaper to send my student to an in-state school?

Maybe… the fact is, if your student has above average grades or test scores, is open to playing ina all NCAA divisions and/or NAIA, and applies to schools looking for their student profile, they can attract scholarship dollars that literally eliminate the funding gap between in-state and private schools. Students should never determine which schools they will apply to based on the advertised sticker price because it is very rarely paid in today’s competitive environment.
